Stockholm Sangeet Festival 2018

The 12th edition of the festival will start out with the Young Sangeet Festival with activities for children and youngsters at Stallet on Saturday October 6th. Then Sunday October 7th we will return to the grand stage of Södra Teatern to be mesmerized by the art of Nandini Ghosal -Odissi, Dinesh Paul -vocal, Kishore Ghosh -pakhawaj, Rabindra Narayan Goswami -sitar, Suranjana Ghosh -tabla, and many, many more to be announced! On monday October 8th we will once again host the popular Open Stage at Stallet, where any musician, dancer or vocalist with connection to south asian music is welcomed to enter the stage for a fun and spontaneous evening.

Pandit Rabindra Narayan Goswami

Pandit Rabindra Narayan Goswami is recognized as a senior master musician living in the holy city of Varanasi, U.P, India. He has been a professional musician for over 40 years and is a sought after artist and teacher in the field of Indian classical music, both in his beloved hometown and the rest of the world. Goswamiji is known for his big knowledge of ragas and talas, allowing him to go deep into both commonly performed ragas, as well as the very rare ones. He has learnt instrumental and vocal music from different gharanas and styles, and perform in sitar as well as in surbahar.

Nandini Ghosal

Nandini Ghosal has undergone extensive training in Kathak before losing herself to the overpowering beauty and subtlety of Odissi. After an initial training in Odissi under Smt.Poushali Mukherjee, she came under tutelage of the maestro Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra – the father of present day Odissi. Nandini has mastered the intricacies of Odissi under the legendary Guru for sixteen years and is one of his most prominent disciples.

Suranjana Ghosh

Suranjana Ghosh is one of the very few female professional tabla players from India. She moves across a broad spectrum of musical styles, in India and in the West. In the 2000s she has had many collaborations with musicians in Sweden and numerous and diverse music projects. With roots in North Indian Classical music, Suranjana meets music and musicians from various genres: Indian raga, Swedish folk, blues, jazz, flamenco, church music, opera, etc

Kishore Kumar Ghosh

Kishore Ghosh is one of the most experienced exponents of pakhawaj . With a total experience of 44 years in professional percussion, he has distinguished himself by balancing his depth in both Pakhawaj as well as Tabla. He mastered the respective arts from two world renowned maestros namely Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Guru Swapan Chaudhuri.
